Binding Study Recommendation Suspended Again

The binding study recommendation (BSR) for first-year students of the 2021-2022 academic year will be suspended. First-year students who fail to meet the BSR standard in the 2021-2022 academic year will be given the opportunity to meet this standard before the end of their second academic year.
Educational activities continued and will continue as much as possible during the coronavirus crisis, but delays in some study programmes and students are unavoidable. Therefore, the general meeting of the Netherlands Association of Universities of Applied Sciences decided last Friday by a majority to follow the same BSR line this year as in previous years: the BSR will be suspended for first-year students in the 2021-2022 academic year. The decision applies to all universities of applied sciences, including Avans University of Applied Sciences.
Deregistrations as of 1 February 2022
This news may come at an unfortunate time for some first-year students. Especially if they deregistered just before 1 February, because they expected that they would not obtain enough credits before the end of this academic year. Students who have deregistered can possibly re-register and apply for student financial aid.
The Executive Board will examine the impact of this decision for Avans students next week.
