Paul Rüpp: “We hope we can resume face-to-face classes soon.”
Our students have rated their education higher this year than they did last year, but online learning is becoming more and more tiresome, as reflected in the results of a survey among students.
“Things are not going so badly with the students in general. The study delays are manageable, and most students are earning good grades. But we also see the feelings of hopelessness and despondency, plus the fact that many are suffering from a lack of social contact. We feel that we should be paying even more attention to students’ well-being,” says Paul Rüpp in a video message for the Avans community.
“We are constantly looking for ways to enhance the well-being of our students and staff, and we are weighing options for relaxing the measures responsibly.” One such option is the pilot for at-home COVID testing. “Steps like these will help us along the way to reopening Avans as soon as possible.”
In addition, Avans represents the interests of students and staff in various ways, and in collaboration with external parties such as the Netherlands Association of Universities of Applied Sciences and the student unions.
