Update 7 April: help for students and use of multimedia studios

7 April 2021

Help for students

The coronavirus crisis impacts everyone. Avans staff and students may experience psychological, physical or practical problems that could hinder healthy and enjoyable working or studying. The wellbeing of our staff and students is our priority. Which is why we are always available for help or advice.

It has become clear to us that some students are not always sure where to go with any questions or concerns they might have. Their first point of contact should always be their study development counsellor. Of course the student counsellor can also help if students have problems that could hinder their study progress.

Plenty of free workshops and training sessions are offered via extra.avans.nl, such as the online course entitled ‘Being a student during the COVID-19 pandemic’ on 12 April. These meetings help students become and stay mentally and physically healthy. This digital magazine contains more information about self-help with issues resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. Mirro and Avans Flow also offer free self-help modules and activities. Students can also check the frequently asked questions for more information.

Use of multimedia studios

We are aware that there is some uncertainty about the options for the use of the multimedia studios. Use of these spaces has been limited due to COVID. The multimedia studios can only be booked by appointment by staff and students. The multimedia support staff are also happy to help come up with good alternatives such as home recordings.

To ensure a good spread in the occupancy of the studios in Breda and ‘s-Hertogenbosch and to ensure that support is available, it is important to contact multimediasupport.denbosch@avans.nl or multimediasupport.breda@avans.nl on time.

Lecturers planning to give their students assignments that require the use of a multimedia studio must first contact multimedia support. Multimedia support staff will help with scheduling, spread of occupancy and possible alternatives. If you have any questions, please send an email to one of the addresses below, or check out this brochure for more information.

Appeal to all students: do not arrive too early at the test location

The test weeks are in full swing. We are happy to see that students and staff are mostly complying with the applicable coronavirus measures and that the process of examination is going smoothly. On occasion we are having to remind students and staff of the rules & regulations in place and if necessary someone might be removed from the premises.

Of course it is important to arrive on time but some students end up arriving extremely early, resulting in unintended group formation and spontaneous encounters. We aim to prevent this from happening and would like to ask you to avoid arriving on location more than 20 minutes before the start of the test. We would like to wish everyone good luck on the remaining tests!
